You are what we need!
Hermana Chipman’s message given during Zone Conferences July 2022
When I was a young adult, such as yourself, I would always look up to my doctor as someone who was knowledgeable and much more experienced and older than me. As I have aged, it has sometimes been startling to notice that they became closer and closer to my age and now they are becoming younger and younger! This has also happened with my church leaders and others that I have respected and followed.
Today, I look at you as my future leaders and honestly it will be very soon! And guess what? I am really excited because I see your talents, your strengths and especially your goodness! I have so much hope in the future because of who you are! You will be the ones who will carry on and lead this great work!
Some of you may look at those around you and think you know who those leaders will be because they have gifts and talents that are obvious. You may even wish that you could be the same way. President Dallin H. Oaks taught President Chipman and I in the Missionary Training Center a few weeks ago that we should not covet other people’s gifts because God wants us to use the gifts that we have been given, as well as use our personal experiences that shape us to do His work. President Oaks also instructed us to pray for inspiration to know how we can identify and use them to bless others. We have been created as unique individuals by divine design so it is impossible to act like another. Your Heavenly Father actually wants you to be yourself as you do His work! He made you the way you are for a reason! You are more than enough and precisely what this world needs!
