Our First Week!

July 8, 2022

Our first week was eventful and busy!  On Tuesday, July 5 we picked up three reassigned missionaries from the airport.  It was the first time President Chipman and I tried to drive here in Peru! All the stuff you hear about no lanes, no stop signs, and no rules are ALL TRUE so needless to say we were intimidated but we went forward with both faith and our two Assistants.

When we picked up the new missionaries it was as though we picked up the three Nephites!  These guys are just as amazing as they are tall!  They were excited and upbeat about  beginning this leg of  their missions here in Arequipa, even though their luggage was stuck in Lima for nearly 3 days.

They loved it when we got stuck in cattle traffic on the way back from the airport. I wonder if cattle here need licenses to be on the city streets like cars?

Mission Tour

This week we started our tour of the mission to meet the missionaries as well as a few stake presidents and District leaders.  We visited the Chachani, Pichu Pichu, Misti, and La Costa Zones in four days. Next week we plan to finish up with the Tacna 1, Tacna 2, Ilo, and Moquegua Zones.

Here are some of the sights of our first week:

Plaza de Armas de Arequipa

The Arequipa Temple

On the way to pick up suitcases from the Airport that were left in Lima by mistake!

Our trip to La Coasta Zone and the town of Camana.
