A Different Perspective
Normally, when I enter the celestial room after a session I sit in one of the corners so I can admire the room as a whole. Last week, for some reason, I chose to sit underneath the massive chandelier hanging from the center. At first, I preferred my old perspective, but soon my eyes were drawn upward into the chandelier and I was startled by the beauty as I watched the light dance through the crystals and around the room. With the movement of the light, I actually felt as if I was being drawn heavenward. At that moment, I had this thought. The reason God gives us periods of great change and challenges is so we can learn new perspectives or points of views. Each can be transformative and can draw us heavenward. The process helps us to become more like our Savior, who sees every perspective.
I’ve always known that God is all-knowing, but I haven’t appreciated the different facets of His knowledge. He knows the past and the future, every angle of every situation, every detail at every scale. There is nothing God is unaware of. Just as God’s love is pure and without blemish, his knowledge is pure. He has the vantage point where he can see and know literally everything!
I have had many new perspectives introduced to me here in Peru. I am grateful for each one even though many I didn’t fully appreciate at first. However, as I take the time to look, I can see how they have truly elevated me to have more empathy, and they have enlightened my understanding to consider things in new and inspiring ways.
Scriptures:
D&C 88:6
He that ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things. In that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth.
D&C 38:1-3
Thus saith the Lord your God, even Jesus Christ, the Great I Am, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the same which looked upon the wide expanse of eternity, and all the seraphic hosts of heaven, before the world was made. The same which knoweth all things, for all things are present before mine eyes; I am the same which spake, and the world was made, and all things came by me.
Mosiah 4:9
Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the lord can comprehend.
