Tacna

Tacna is located close to the Chilean border and is about a 7-8 hour bus ride from Arequipa.  We have two zones that are shared by three stakes in the City.  This is the only area outside of the Arequipa where sisters serve. We currently have approximately 24 missionaries serving there.  It is nestled in a green valley that leads to the Pacific Ocean and it is surrounded by dune-like hills. We love the city plaza with an iconic arch and beautiful church.  I think the prettiest area of the city is the tiled walkway through the main area of town that is lined with beautiful palm trees.

Travel information: The Casa Andina is a nice hotel with modern features with a gym and a great buffet breakfast.  Reserve it earlier than others because it can fill up.  We normally eat at its restaurant called the La Plaza Bar & Grill or at a parrillada called the Urus Restaurant.  For lunch we like to eat at the Entre Masas Cafe Restaurant across the street from the Cathedral. It has good sandwiches and great Italian food.  It works well for a quick lunch in a great location halfway between the Hotel and the Parachico chapel where we do interviews and zone conferences.
